Falcons Close out Regular Season in Billings

SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team plays its final regular-season game this Saturday when they travel to Montana State University Billings at 1:00 p.m. PST.

QUOTABLE
"
It's all about staying locked in on the game plan," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "And staying focused on our process. This game has big implications for postseason seeding and we will compete accordingly. We started conference play against MSU Billings in December and now we have an opportunity to play them again and show how much we've grown as a team."

MADE IT RAIN IN ALASKA
The Falcons set a single-game season-best in 3-point shooting in an 83-74 victory over Alaska Anchorage. They made 16 3-pointers on Saturday night. The previous season-high happened in games against Douglas College on Dec. 21, 2024, and San Marcos on Nov. 16, 2024, when the Falcons made 12 3-pointers. Jonas La Tour led the Falcons with five 3-pointers against the Seawolves.

ASSIST AFTER ASSIST AFTER ASSIST
The Falcons shared the ball incredibly well against the Seawolves. They finished the game with 29 assists. It set a new season-best for the Falcons.

Mason Landdeck made sure everyone scored on Saturday night. Landdeck finished the game with 13 assists. The program record belongs to Rob Diederichs, who dished out 19 assists against Central Washington on Feb. 25, 2010. The Falcons' single-game assist record is 38 from a game against Northwest Nazarene on Dec. 31, 2005.

BALANCED SCORING FROM THE FALCONS
Eight Falcons scored in last Saturday's game. La Tour led the team with 23 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting. Landdeck, Grant Coleman, and Henry Sandberg scored 13 points each. Coleman was perfect from 3-point range, knocking down four attempts. Sandberg added four rebounds to his scoring outburst. Jaxon Nap led the squad with seven rebounds. Owen Moriarty pulled down five rebounds. The Falcons bench outscored the Seawolves bench 28-8.

ONE OF THE BEST REBOUNDERS IN THE COUNTRY
Nap enters the final game of the regular season atop the Great Northwest Athletic Conference rebounding list. He's averaged 9.8 rebounds per game. The next closest is Elyon Zevenbergen of Alaska Fairbanks with 8.5 rebounds per game. Nap's totaled 273 rebounds this season, with 236 defensive and 37 offensive rebounds in 28 games played. Nap ranks ninth in the country in rebounds.

ONE EFFICIENT TRUCK
Trace Evans has put together an efficient season for the Falcons. The big man from down under is making 63.3 percent of his field goal attempts this season. It's the second-best field goal percentage in the conference behind Central Washington's Mitch Brizee. Evans has taken 90 more shots than Brizee has this season. Evans ranks 13th in the country in field goal percentage.

MAKING HIS FREE THROWS
Moriarty has made the most of his free throw attempts this season. He ranks fourth in the conference with an 87.3 free throw percentage. He's taken the most free throws of anyone in the top five.

WHAT'S WORKING FOR THE FALCONS
The Falcons rank third in the conference in field goal percentage. Their ability to get shots close to the basket has turned into a 47.6 field goal percentage this season. The Falcons have turned into one of the best defensive-rebounding teams in the conference as well. SPU is pulling down 27.4 defensive rebounds per game. That's tied for the most in the conference with Alaska Fairbanks.

ABOUT MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY BILLINGS
Like the Falcons, the Yellowjackets have already secured a spot in next week's GNAC Tournament. They enter Saturday with a 19-11 overall record and are 10-7 in GNAC play. The Falcons and Yellowjackets met in Seattle back on Dec. 7. The game went into overtime, but MSUB escaped Seattle with an 88-83 win. Nap was heavily involved for the Falcons against the Yellowjackets. He was a rebounding machine, pulling down 17 rebounds for SPU. He had seven more rebounds than Kael Robinson, who led the Yellowjackets with 10. Moriarty had a spectacular night for the Falcons on Saturday. He poured in a career-best 29 points on 10-for-23 shooting. He was perfect at the free throw line, making all nine attempts. Moriarty was a rebound away from a double-double, finishing the game with nine boards.
