SEATTLE – Seattle Pacific University men's soccer head coach
Kevin Sakuda finalized his 2025 signing class on Monday, featuring 11 newcomers comprised of seven transfers and four first-year Falcons.
"We're really excited about this incoming class," Sakuda said. "It's a talented group that will make an impact not only this season but in the future of our program. Each player brings a unique skill set to the team, but what they all share is a strong character and personality. They will represent our program well on and off the field."
Brian Lanier comes to SPU as a graduate student with prior experience at both the University of the Pacific and Gonzaga University. Lanier was named First Team All-Conference twice at Newberg High School. He made a career-high 10 saves against Saint Mary's while at the University of Pacific.
Chester March joins the Falcons as a transfer from Western Oregon University. The Federal Way native brings collegiate-level defensive experience, having appeared in 39 games and logged 1,800 minutes with the Wolves. March was featured on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. He earned First Team All-League honors twice while at Fife High School and was named the SPSL Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Rafael Lucio is a forward from Las Vegas, Nevada, who played two seasons for Columbia Basin College. Lucio was a fixture for CBC, appearing in 28 matches while making 25 starts. He scored 19 goals for the Hawks, including five game-winning goals.
Sam McAfee arrives from Monroe High School and Whatcom Community College. A midfielder from Snohomish, Washington, McAfee earned All-WESCO honors twice and was named a Northwest Athletic Conference All-Star twice.
Lucas Witthauer transfers in from Western Washington University. The Vancouver, Washington, product was named First Team All-League at Skyview High School. Witthauer was a First Team All-Region selection and made the honor roll and scholar-athlete all four years of high school.
Sebastian Rangel comes to SPU after beginning his college career at Gonzaga University. Before his season at Gonzaga, Rangel was named First Team All-League, First Team All-State, and Defensive Player of the Year in high school.
Victor Cabanas joins SPU as a redshirt freshman from San José State University. Originally from Federal Way, Cabanas returns to his home state with a Division I experience. He played four years of varsity soccer at Thomas Jefferson High School and was named First Team All-Conference once.
Harper Sabari, a freshman from Poulsbo, Washington, played high school soccer at North Kitsap High School. Sabari was a standout, earning First Team All-Conference and All-State recognition three times each. He helped North Kitsap take second and third place in the state during his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively.
Brady Reed hails from Missoula, Montana, where he was a standout at Hellgate High School. Reed was named All-Region once, All-State twice, and was the Montana State Player of the Year. He was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year two times.
JP Guzman is a first-year forward from Vancouver, Washington, where he starred at Columbia River High School. He helped his team to a state championship in 2023. Guzman was named First Team All-League once. In 2024, Guzman earned League MVP honors. He was First Team All-Region twice and First Team All-State two times.
Kasey Toevs, a first-year student from Quincy, Washington, played at Quincy High School, where he scored 12 career goals. Toevs was named First Team All-League twice and collected First Team All-Region once.
The newcomers and the rest of the Falcons open the 2025 season at Stanislaus State on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
