FROM THE COACH
"I couldn't be more excited for the challenge ahead of us," head coach
Tyler Copp said. "It was evident from the first two weeks of practice that our players put in the time this summer and have shown massive improvements in their games."
"
Lauren Lee led us in qualifying and will enter our first week playing from the #1 spot," Copp said. "She will be a player to watch as she looks to kick-start her time here as a Falcon."
"The depth of our roster this year is something that will help grow our program," Copp added. "The competition for lineup spots has prepared us well for the first event. Our entire roster being in the field will give us experience as we tackle our fall schedule."

FROM THE COACH
"It's a big week for the team as we get the opportunity to host two top teams from the Lonestar Conference," head coach
Kevin Sakuda said. "The guys have been playing well, and we are starting to figure out our identity. Going five games unbeaten and winning back-to-back home games last week, there is a lot of belief in this team, and we're hoping to keep that momentum going as we finish out our non-conference schedule. Friday will be especially fun as we have our alumni back at Interbay for the night. This year, we will be honoring the 1985 SPU team, who will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their championship. We have so much respect for the history of this program, and the best way for us to honor that is to put in a great performance for those guys on Friday."

FROM THE COACH
"We finished up a very good noncnference schedule this past week," head coach
Arby Busey said. "We played as challenging a schedule as anyone in the country. We have done that in hopes of being prepared for what our conference will bring us. Very challenging games every single week. We feel good about how we have prepared through the nonconference. Back to work this week. Facing two teams that we didn't find a way to win games against last fall, so we know we will need to be at our best to take advantage of these two opportunities."
ABOUT THE FALCONS
- The Falcons hosted Cal State East Bay last Thursday night and beat the Pioneers 1-0 at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
- In the 80th minute, Grace Gouran sent a ball into the box that Maya Parman sent toward the net, but the ball was knocked down by the keeper.
- With the ball on the turf in front of the goal, Parman tapped it in from one yard out, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the match.
- Cullen and Schoennauer split halves for the Falcons.
- Cullen made one save in the first half.
- Schoennauer made three saves in the final 45 minutes of the match.
- It took a relentless effort in the second half from the 20th-ranked Falcons to come back and tie top-ranked Colorado School of Mines 2-2 last Saturday afternoon.
- In the 70th minute, Taylor Krueger gained enough separation from her defender to send a spinning shot past the keeper into the right corner of the net, cutting the score to 2-1.
- Krueger's goal was her second of the season and 12th of her career with the Falcons.
- Then, in the 88th minute, the Falcons were on the attack when Kayla Wallace sent a ball into the box.

FROM THE COACH
"We are excited for our first round of GNAC road matches this weekend," head coach
Jason Rhine said. "The trip to Canada and being in another country for a match is a fun adventure that most NCAA athletes don't get to experience, and we are grateful for that opportunity. Western Washington's home environment is typically intense, and we had a really fun match there last year in front of the pep band and large student section. We look forward to the exciting challenge of a potentially loud and crazy setting for that match."
"On the court, we are hoping to take some lessons from what went well last weekend and also some small tweaks to continue improving," Rhine added. "We have athletes capable of continuing to improve their game and have breakout performances any time, and we look forward to seeing who might be stepping up in new ways this week."

FROM THE COACH
"We are treating this week like a dress rehearsal for regionals," assistant coach
Eric Hansen said. "It will give us a chance to compete on the regional course and get a feel for everything, so we know exactly what we're in for when we go back down in a month. It will also give us a chance to learn what adjustments we'll need to make between now and then. We have been putting in some really solid work in preparation for these longer races, and we're excited to have a chance to race against some good teams we haven't gotten to see yet."
