Garcia & Team Set Round Records for Falcons

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Seattle Pacific University women's golf team competed at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay on Monday and Tuesday, where Zoe Garcia shot an individual program record 68 in round one before matching it in round two, while the team turned in a program record 297 during round one.

FROM THE COACH
"Zoe had an incredible day out there," head coach Tyler Copp Said. 16 greens in regulation, 12 fairways, and 30 putts - that's a good recipe for an under-par round. She struck the ball nicely all day, capitalized on an eagle opportunity, and stayed composed the entire day with 3 consecutive 2-putt pars after making her first and only bogey of the day. It's a great day whenever someone in our program can beat the course  -4 under, which was really special."

"Lauren was super steady all day," Copp added. "She had some nice par saves to keep the momentum going and stuck a 50-yard wedge shot on the 6th hole that led to a tap-in birdie. On her final hole of the day, she drained a 6-foot birdie putt to set a career best round of one under par."

"To compete against 18 other teams in our region and fire 297 was a huge accomplishment," Copp said. "We are really looking forward to backing it up tomorrow."

FROM THE PLAYERS
"I'm really proud of how I played," Garcia said. "The past week I have shown that I can play good golf and to go and do it in a tournament is huge for me. I was giving myself good looks while also trying to stay consistent and took it one shot at a time."

"Overall, I played solidly," Lee said. "Both days, I nearly hit all the fairways and most greens. I made smart plays and capitalized on my birdie opportunities. I haven't shot under since my junior golf season, so this was a breakthrough moment for me. There were many highlights but there's always room for improvement, can't wait for the next one."

"We held up extremely well against every single team in this tournament," Eklund said. "We've been putting in so much work and to see it pay off is so rewarding for the team."
