SEATTLE – Theo McMillan made a turnaround jumper in the final second of the Seattle Pacific University men's basketball game against Western Washington on Saturday afternoon that gave the Falcons a 78-76 victory over the Vikings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start for the Falcons and the Vikings, SPU took off with a 21-6 run over the middle stages of the first half.
- The Falcons went 8-for-11 and made all four of their 3-point attempts during the run.
- Defensively, the Falcons shut down the Vikings, holding them to a 2-for-13 effort from the field and 0-for-6 from 3-point range during the eight-minute span.
- SPU owned a 37-21 lead at the break.
- Heppner hit another 3-pointer to put the Falcons up 60-44 with 10:54 left in the game.
- The Vikings stormed back into the game, going on a 31-16 run that tied it at 76 with five seconds left.
- WWU's Dennis Johnson III led the charge with 17 points while his team went 11-for-18 from the field, including four made 3-pointers.
- The Falcons could have put the game away during that stretch, but SPU went 4-for-10 from the free throw line during that stretch.
- With five seconds to play, McMillan drove the length of the court before spinning in the middle of the lane and drained a turnaround floater with less than a second left to play.
- The Vikings heaved a final shot toward the basket, but it was no good, and the Falcons picked up a big-time victory, 78-76.

- The Falcon s shot 53.4 percent (31-for-58) from the field including nine 3-pointers.
- Evans led the Falcons with 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting with five rebounds and two assists.
- McMillan recorded 12 points, including the game-winning shot, and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds with three assists.
- Heppner finished with 12 points and had seven rebounds.
- Henry Sandberg and Grant Coleman had 10 points each.
- Sandberg went 4-for-6 from the field, while Coleman made three 3-pointers.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Ken Bone, Karin Grellson Strong, Peter Hattrup, Linnae Jarvits, Bob Murphy, Mike Olson, and Keith Phillips were honored at halftime of today's game after being inducted into the SPU Athletics Hall of Fame earlier this morning.
- McMillan recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- It's the third time in four games that McMillan has grabbed 10 or more rebounds for the Falcons.
- He's averaging 9.4 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game.
