VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Seattle Pacific University track & field standout
Hannah Chang concluded her indoor season at the NCAA Indoor National Championships, earning All-American Honorable Mention in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday.
"Hannah capped an outstanding indoor season today," head coach Karl Lerum said. "We're very proud of her and eager to start her outdoor season next week."
Chang lined up against some of the best in the nation in Friday's preliminary heats. She finished with a time of 8.77 but didn't qualify for tomorrow's final. However, Chang leaves Virginia as an All-American, earning Honorable Mention for her performance in the race.
Along with qualifying for nationals, Chang's season was highlighted by her second GNAC Indoor Championship in the 60-meter hurdles. On Feb. 17, she won the 60-meter hurdles by .01 with a time of 8.52. Chang beat out Alaska Anchorage's Liv Heite for the conference championship. Her time was a new personal best and a new program record in the 60-meter hurdles.
At the Husky Classic on February 13, she clocked an 8.53, which earned her an event win. Chang's time tied Maliea Luquin's SPU record of 8.53, set March 11, 2016, at NCAA indoor preliminaries in Pittsburg, Kansas. It was just 0.02 seconds off the GNAC indoor record of 8.51 seconds, set by Central Washington's Mariyah Vongsaveng in 2017.
Chang returns to Seattle to join the team for the outdoor season at next weekend's OSU PNW Invite in Corvallis, Ore.
