TACOMA –
Ryan Endresen raced to victory in the 400-meter hurdles, helping the Seattle Pacific men take sixth as a team in the Pacific Lutheran Invitational in Saturday.
The Falcons wound up with 54 points. Central Washington won the title with 203.25.
In the women's meet, Emily Quatier led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 400 meters, and SPU won nine events altogether to finish second in the team standings with 179 points, just four behind victorious Central Washington.
Seattle Pacific sophomore Endresen (Portland, Ore.) went the distance in 55.8 seconds to capture the 400-meter hurdles in the men's meet. That was a season-best for him, exactly two-tenths faster than he ran last Saturday in the UPS Outdoor Preview, and put him onto the GNAC automatic qualifying list.
Freshman
Evan Bradford (Santa Barbara, Calif.) ran his first college 1,500 meters, and wound up in second place with a GNAC provisional qualifying time of 4:00.6. He also took third in the 800 with a 1:59.2.
Freshman sprinter
Dusty Duncan (Lynden, Wash./Lynden HS), having already logged a GNAC provisional time in the 800 last week at UPS, added his name to the provisional 400-meter list, going 50.3 seconds to finish in fourth place.
Falcons sophomore Quatier (Portland, Ore.) clocked a 57.6 in the 400, good for automatic qualification to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference meet. She is the defending GNAC champion in the 400. Freshman Kishia Mitchell (Puyallup, Wash./Rogers HS) was second in Saturday's 400 in 59.3, and freshman BryAnne Wochnick (Portland, Ore.) was third in 1:00.4. The latter two times were good for GNAC provisional qualifying status.
Wochnick was part of a three-way tie for first in the 100 meters with a GNAC provisional-qualifying time of 12.7 seconds.
Senior Crystal Sims (Portland, Ore.) and Quatier teamed up for a 1-2 finish in the 200, Sims winning with a GNAC automatic time of 25.7 and Quatier second in 26.0, a conference provisional mark.
Seattle Pacific also recorded a 1-2 finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Junior Natalie Nobbs (Yakima, Wash./Riverside Christian HS) won in 1:07.4, and sophomore Kira Lewis (Yakima, Wash./West Valley HS) was second in 1:09.3. Nobbs' time was a GNAC provisional.
Other winners for the Falcon women were junior Terra Schumacher (Sublimity, Ore.) in the 100 hurdles in 15.3 (GNAC provisional), junior Kayla Wilkins (Vancouver, Wash./Evergreen HS) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:56.37 (GNAC provisional), sophomore Katy Gross (Everett, Wash./Cascade HS) in the high jump at 5 feet, 2¼ inches / 1.58 meters (GNAC provisional), sophomore Trinna Miranda (Tigard, Ore.) in the triple jump at 35-6 / 10.82 meters (GNAC provisional) and junior Carly Andrews (Issaquah, Wash./Issaquah HS) in the javelin at 126-1 / 38.44 meters (GNAC provisional).
