SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Make it 3 for 3.
That's what pole vaulter
Lizzy Daugherty's record is through the first three outdoor track and field meets of the season.
Lizzy Daugherty
The Seattle Pacific junior cleared 11 feet, 3 ½ inches on Friday afternoon to claim a share of first place at the Mangrum Invitational.
Abigail Keane of Azusa Pacific and Lilly McGraw of host Cal State San Marcos also got over that bar.
Daugherty opened the season by winning the Ed Boitano Invitational in Tacoma on March 4. Then last Saturday at the Doris Heritage Track Festival in Renton, she won again, this time by clearing a 12-footer (12-0 ½).
FABULOUS DAY IN THE 400
SPU sprinters recorded three personal bests and one heat win in the 400-meter dash on Friday.
Marissa Crane and
Aniya Green both clocked personal bests on the women's side. Crane, who won the Doris Heritage Festival in 58.57, lowered that to 58.45. Green, in her first 400 of the year went 58.46. Also,
Charisma Smith won her heat with a time of 1:01.73.
Isaiah Archer set a PB in the men's race, placing fourth in 48.72. That beat the 48.88 that he ran in last spring's GNAC finals. It was his first outdoor 400 of the year. He went 48.78 to take second place at GNAC indoors in February.
AND THAT'S NOT ALL
-- In addition to
Charisma Smith, the Falcons had another heat winner on Friday. Freshman
Hannah Chang took her section of the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 14.50 – three-tenths of a second faster than she ran last week.

David Njeri placed second in the men's triple jump at 46 feet, 4 ¼ inches.
-- Freshman distance runner
Matise Mulch took third place in the women's 5000 meters in 18:01.67. Fellow freshman

th in 2:22.18.
