PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with Seattle Pacific University women's cross country standout
Maya Ewing named as GNAC Athlete of the Week.
Ewing has been the top performer for the Falcons throughout the 2025 season. She opened the year by winning the Green River Invitational on Sept. 13. Then at the Mike Johnson Classic on Sept. 27, Ewing was the top NCAA DII finisher with a time of 20:55.60. Last Saturday, she won the Emerald City Open with a time of 22:31.49.
"We obviously saw some huge growth from Maya last year, and she has continued to improve on that this season," assistant coach
Eric Hansen said. "We wanted to use Saturday's race to practice some different race tactics, and she executed the plan perfectly. She should be feeling confident and ready for anything heading into championship season."
Ewing and the Falcons turn their attention to the GNAC Championships on Oct. 25 in Billings, Mont., in Amend Park.
