2026 SPU Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees

SEATTLE – For the first time since 2019, the Seattle Pacific University Athletics Department is inducting seven new members into its Hall of Fame on February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. inside the E.E. Bach Theatre on the campus of SPU.
 
"We are thrilled to resume adding former standout student-athletes into the Falcons Hall of Fame with this year's induction ceremony on campus," SPU Athletics Director Dan Lepse said. "Such a proud athletics history at Seattle Pacific University provides an elite group from which to choose. The selection committee did a wonderful job of compiling an extremely deserving pool of candidates and paring that list down to the accomplished group that will be honored. These seven inductees form a remarkable class from a variety of SPU sports, and we look forward to welcoming them into the Hall of Fame."
 
Ken Bone, Men's Basketball
Ken Bone served as Seattle Pacific University's head men's basketball coach from 1990 to 2002 after lettering as a player in 1981, becoming the program's first alumnus head coach. He restored SPU to regional and national prominence, leading the Falcons to an NCAA semifinal appearance in 2000, four additional regional championship games, and eight NCAA Tournament berths. His teams won or shared six conference titles, produced seven 20-win seasons, and compiled a winning percentage of .721. Bone's 251 wins rank second in school history, and he earned Conference Coach of the Year honors before later coaching at Portland State and Washington State and serving as an assistant at Washington, Gonzaga, Montana, and Pepperdine.
 
Karin (Grelsson) Strong, Women's Track & Field
Karin Grelsson competed in track and field at SPU from 1992 to 1994 and became one of the most accomplished athletes in school history. She won five NCAA championships in the heptathlon and triple jump, earned nine All-America honors, and was named SPU Athlete of the Year in 1992 and 1993. A two-time Academic All-America first-team selection and NCAA Washington State Woman of the Year, she left SPU as the school record holder in the triple jump and ranked second in the long jump and heptathlon. She set Swedish and NCAA meet records in the triple jump and was the top scorer and team MVP for the SPU teams that finished fourth and fifth nationally.
 
Peter Hattrup, Men's Soccer
Peter Hattrup starred for Seattle Pacific men's soccer during the 1982, 1983, and 1985 seasons and was a central figure in multiple NCAA championship teams. He earned all-region honors three times, was a two-time all-conference selection, and was named to the 1985 Soccer America Best XI across all divisions. A two-time team MVP, he left SPU as the school record holder for single-game goals, season goals, and season assists while ranking second in career goals and assists. He was the leading scorer for the 1983 and 1985 NCAA champions, scoring twice in the 1985 title match, earning offensive MVP honors, and later winning professional championships with FC Seattle, the Kansas City Attack, and the Seattle Sounders.
 
Linnea Jarvits, Women's Basketball and Women's Track & Field
Linnea Jarvits competed for Seattle Pacific in basketball and track and field from 1994 to 1998 and was named SPU Athlete of the Year in 1997. She earned track and field All-America honors by finishing third nationally in the heptathlon as a senior. In basketball, she was a two-time all-region selection and honorable mention All-American while helping lead SPU to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1995 and a conference championship in 1997. She left the program holding the single-game scoring record and ranking among the school leaders in season scoring average, free throw percentage, and career points, and was named team MVP in 1996.
 
Bob Murphy, Baseball
Bob Murphy played baseball at Seattle Pacific from 1965 to 1968 and earned All-American and all-region honors as a second baseman in 1967. He left SPU as the school record holder for season total bases and for career games and innings played. Murphy hit .422 as a junior while helping lead the Falcons to a 19–9 record, producing one of the most impressive offensive seasons in program history.
 
Mike Olson, Men's Track & Field
Mike Olson competed in track and field for Seattle Pacific from 1990 to 1992 and again in 1994, earning NCAA championships in the outdoor shot put in 1992 and the indoor shot put in 1993. He collected five All-America honors in the shot put and was named team MVP twice. Olson left SPU as the school record holder in the shot put and discus and ranked second in the hammer throw.
 
Keith Phillips, Athletics Director
Keith Phillips served as Seattle Pacific's athletic director from 1980 to 1994 after lettering in baseball and basketball during his SPU collegiate career in the mid-1950s.During his tenure, six SPU teams won national championships and more than 20 others finished among the nation's top five. He hired key coaches, expanded fundraising through the Falcon Club, and raised more than $300,000 in a single year. Phillips oversaw a $4.2 million renovation of Royal Brougham Pavilion, completed in 1992, and helped secure funding for the Interbay athletic complex, which was completed in 1997.
 
The 2026 SPU Athletics Hall of Fame Class will be inducted on February 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. inside Bach Theatre. This event is free to attend. The 2026 SPU Athletics Hall of Fame Class will be honored at halftime of both the men's and women's basketball games inside Royal Brougham Pavilion at 2:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., later that day.
