PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with Seattle Pacific sweeping the Track Athlete of the Week awards, as
Maya Ewing and
Avery Erickson earned honors for their performances at the PLU open over the weekend.
The Falcons had to overcome wintry conditions to post strong results over the weekend. Ewing did just that in the women's 1,500-meter run, winning the event with a time of 4:44.39. She won the race by more than a second over Francesca Cetta, who was running unattached. Ewing's personal best in the 1,500-meter was a 4:41.26, posted at the Ed Boitano Invitational in 2025.
"Maya was dealing with a foot issue after indoor so it was nice to see her back out there and looking strong again," assistant coach Eric Hansen said.
Erickson put together a solid performance in the men's 1,500-meter run. He won the race with a time of 4:01.51, beating out Saint Martin's Tyler Scott by 8.4 seconds. Erickson's time in the 1,500-meter run was the best he's posted with the Falcons.
"Avery bounced back well from a 5K last weekend where he wasn't feeling his best," Hansen said. "He looked much more like himself this week and executed a good 1500 from the front. Happy to see both of them get a win going into their first steeple of the season at Oregon state this week."
The Falcons head south for the OSU PNW Invite hosted by Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., on March 21-22.
