SPOKANE, Wash. – Seattle Pacific University delivered a standout performance at the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane, Wash., on Friday, highlighted by a record-breaking run from the men's 4x400-meter relay team that shattered the school mark by nearly four seconds.

"We had an exciting day in Spokane capped off with a school record-breaking men's 4x4," head coach Karl Lerum said. "We had big improvements across event groups, with our sprinters led by big PBs in the 400m from
Brooke Mosby,
Jada Sarrys, and
Ben Rojas. On the distance side,
Avery Erickson had a lifetime best in the steeple, and
Alexa Gossett had an insane 40-second improvement to run 17:10 in the 5k."
TOP FINISHERS
- SPU's men's 4x400-meter relay team of Robert Joshua, Ben Rojas, Justin Brooks, and Tawaf Aboudou ran a 3:14.66, earning a second-place finish in the event.
- Newcomer Ben Rojas ran a 48.51 in the 400-meter to earn a third-place finish in the event.
- Justin Brooks checked in with a 48.76 in the same event to finish one spot behind Rojas.
- Brooke Mosby finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 56.58.
- Jada Sarrys earned a sixth-place finish with a 57.00 in the same event.
- Avery Erickson was strong in the 3,000-meter steeple chase, running a 9:12.07 while earning a second-place finish in the event.
- Maya Ewing won the women's 3,000-meter steeple chase with a time of 10:51.42.
- Alexa Gossett had a second- place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:10.00.
- Anna Prussian clocked a 37:11.26 in the 10,000-meter run.
- Aboudou earned an event win in the triple jump with a mark of 47-02.50.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- SPU's 4x400-meter team of Joshua, Rojas, Brooks, and Aboudou set a new school record of 3:14.66, beating out the previous record of 3:18.05 set in 2005.
- Rojas' 48.51 was a new personal best in the 400-meter dash.
- Mosby's 56.58 in the 400-meter was a new personal best.
- Erickson posted a substantial personal best in the 3,000-meter steeple with his time of 9:12.07.
- Gossett recorded a personal best in the 5,000-meter run when she clocked a 17:10.00.
