Falcons Set for Home Weekend

SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team hosts a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference games this weekend at Interbay Soccer Stadium. The Falcons welcome Simon Fraser on Thursday at 5 p.m. and Montana State University Billings on Saturday at noon.

GNAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its women's soccer All-Academic Team on Wednesday afternoon, featuring 16 Seattle Pacific women's soccer student-athletes.

Maya Parman and Ashlyn Valdvinos lead the Falcons with 4.0 GPAs. It's Parman's second consecutive selection to the GNAC All-Academic Team with a perfect GPA. Kathryn Nyone and Lauren Snedeker are the only three-time selections for the Falcons. Parman is joined by Mercedes Cullen and Moira MacKay as second-time selections.

NOTHING GOT PAST HER
The Falcons played matches against Saint Martin's and Western Oregon last weekend that resulted in 0-0 ties. Mercedes Cullen picked up shutouts in both matches. She finished the weekend with five saves after facing 12 shots from opponents. Defenders Nyone, Landrey McCann, and Ella Smith helped make it tough for the Saints and Wolves to create many chances.

SCORING IT WELL
Despite going scoreless in the last two matches, the Falcons remain one of the best-attacking teams in the GNAC. They rank second in the conference with 18 goals scored in 10 matches played. Kayla Wallace ranks second in the conference with five goals scored. Taylor Krueger is tied for third with four goals. Moira MacKay has three goals and is tied for sixth in the GNAC.

PUTTING TOGETHER A SOLID SEASON
After being named 2023 GNAC Newcomer of the Year in 2023, Taylor Krueger has continued to impress with the Falcons. She's tied for third in goals scored (4) and tied for the league lead in assists (4). Krueger is tied with Western Washington's Lydia Myers for the most points in the conference with 12.

HOW IT'S SHAPING UP
The Falcons are nearing the midway point in their conference schedule and are hunting for their 11th regular season GNAC title. Currently, the team sits in third with 12 points. Western Washington leads the GNAC with a 4-0-2 record and 14 points, while Simon Fraser sits second at 4-1-1 and 13 points. The top four teams in the standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament on Nov. 14-16 in Seattle. The winner of that tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

ABOUT THE RED LEAFS
The Red Leafs enter the weekend second in the GNAC standings. They tout an 8-1-1 overall record and are 4-1-1 in GNAC play. The Red Leafs lead the conference in goals scored with 20 while allowing the fewest goals in the conference with three. Isabella Muzzolini leads the team with four goals scored, followed by Dariella Lopez who has three goals. 11 different Red Leafs have scored in 2024. Sarah Lowen starts in goal for the Red Leafs. She's recorded four shutouts with a save percentage of .917 this season.

ABOUT MSU BILLINGS
The Yellowjackets enter the weekend fifth in the GNAC standings. They're 4-4-2 overall with a 1-3-2 GNAC record. MSUB is tied for the third in the GNAC with 16 goals scored and has allowed the second-fewest goals with seven this season. Kendall McGraw and Liberty Palmer are tied with a team-high three goals each. The Falcons and Yellowjackets met on Sept. 26 in Billings, Mont. where SPU picked up a 2-1 road victory.
