Falcons Celebrate Three Seniors This Saturday

SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team plays two more home matches this weekend. The Falcons host Western Oregon on Thursday at 7 p.m. before celebrating Lauren Snedeker, Kathryn Nyone, and Landrey McCann prior to their match against Saint Martin's on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

QUOTABLE
"Saturday, we get the privilege of honoring three amazing women," head coach Arby Buey said. "Kathryn, Landrey, and Lauren have been unbelievable at SPU. They have unparalleled synergy within their class. The connection they have together has been a great source of inspiration for all of us throughout the past three years. Their impact on our program will continue to be felt long after their time here. The accomplishments they achieved together on the field are many but cannot be compared to the contributions they have made off the field. They have provided a daily example for all of us in serving others. There's not a person in our program that they have not made better, they have consistently shown up and intentionally improved the lives of all of us every day. It's a group of women who see the best in everyone and draw that out of those they are around. For those of us who have spent time with them, we will carry the way they have made us feel in our hearts forever. We are so proud of who they are today and blessed to call them family."

LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Simon Fraser last Thursday. Nora Patterson was the hero, scoring two timely goals to give SPU the win.

SPU conceded a goal to SFU in the 45th minute of the match. With time ticking away in the first half, Andie Buckley passed the ball to Patterson, who slotted a shot in the lower left corner of the net to tie the match 2-2. The goal came with six seconds left in the half.

In the 79th minute, Taylor Krueger played a perfect ball to Patterson on the right side of the field. Patterson looked up and launched from 24 yards out. The ball sailed up and over the Red Leaf keeper, and became the game-winner for the Falcons.
Ashlyn Valdovinos was the hero on Saturday, netting two goals to lift the Falcons over Montana State University Billings 3-1. Valdovinos got the scoring started in the 29th minute of Saturday's match. Krueger worked past her defender down the right sideline before angling into the box. Krueger's cross went through the box, finding Valdovinos on the backside. She ripped a shot into the top left corner of the net to put the Falcons up 1-0.

Krueger and Valdovinos teamed up for the final goal of the match. Krueger once again worked down the right side of the field before crossing a ball into the box. Valdovions was waiting for it and chipped it up and over the defender for the goal. It pushed the score to 3-1, where it would be until time expired.
