For All-American Honors, Twice is Nice

Hair finishes her stellar career with four such awards after picking up two more

SEATTLE – Throughout her career. Hannah Hair came up with several kill / block double-doubles on the volleyball court.

On Wednesday, the Seattle Pacific star achieved a different kind of double-double.

Hair was named a double All-American: second-team by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association, and honorable mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Those honors come on the heels of last Wednesday's announcement that she was a double All-West Region selection:: first team for D2CCA and honorable mention for AVCA.

"That's awesome – I'm very, very honored and I'm really grateful for It," Hair said of the two All-American honors. "It's been really fun to grow throughout my time here. To finish strong was amazing, and to finishing with everybody by my side, I'm just really grateful that I got this year to come back and compete."

Hair thus earned four All-American awards during her stellar five-year career with the Falcons. She was an AVCA honorable mention in 2021, Seattle Pacific's first All-American since 2011. Last season, she was an AVCA second-team choice. This is her first D2CCA All-American award.

The D2CCA team is selected by sports information directors and communications directors from individual schools and conference offices. The AVCA team is voted on by coaches.

Among her many accomplishments, Hair is on the brink of claiming her second straight NCAA Division II blocks-per-set title. She averaged 1.53 through her 26 matches this season (158 total blocks). Of the others among the national top 10, the only one whose team is still alive in the NCAA Tournament is second-place Elizabeth Blinn of Bentley (Massachusetts). She averages 1.48 heading into this week's quarterfinals.

imposing force at the net during her five seasons as a Falcon.
Along with her 158 blocks (28 solo) this fall, Hair hammered 217 kills with .337 hitting accuracy and totaled 311 points this fall. Her final career totals in those statistical categories were 948 kills, .333 hitting, 629 total blocks (94 solo) and 1,311.5 points.

As she moves on from college volleyball, Hair does so as the new Great Northwest Athletic Conference record holder for total blocks with her 629. The old mark was 597. Hair logged her 598th midway through the fifth set of a thriller at Alaska Fairbanks on Nov. 2.

A week later in another five-setter – this one at home against Western Washington – Hair got up for a career-high 14 blocks (four solo). She also had 10 kills in that match for her second double-double of the year and the fifth (and final) one of her career.

Prior to the start of the 2024 schedule, Hair was named the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year. Although it was her first time of winning that particular award, she was a unanimous selection the Preseason All-GNAC team for four straight years.

In November, Hair was voted to the All-GNAC for the fourth consecutive year – and was unanimous all four times. Twice this fall, she was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week. She won that eight times during her career, plus two Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In 2023, Hair became the first player in GNAC history to be named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
