Hair One of West's Best ... Again

Falcon star earns D2CCA first team, AVCA honorable mention All-Region awards

SEATTLE – For the past two years, Hannah Hair has established herself as being among the best volleyball players in the country.

No surprise then that the Seattle Pacific star middle blocker once again is regarded as one of the best in the West …

… times two.

2024 D2CCA logo.2024 AVCA logo.Hair was announced on Wednesday as a member of two All-West Region teams: first team by the D2 Conference Commissioners Association, and honorable mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

It is the second year in a row that Hair has earned All-Region recognition from both organizations – with both announced on the same day. The D2CCA team is selected by sports information directors and communications directors from individual schools and conference offices within each region. The AVCA team is voted on by coaches.

Hair now has back-to-back D2CCA first team regional awards. She has three AVCA awards, including a first team selection in 2023 and honorable mention in 2021.

Hair was one of many players in all sports around the country who took advantage of a fifth year of eligibility granted by the NCAA because of the pandemic shutdowns in the spring of 2020, the fall of 2020, and the winter of 2020-21.

She made the most of it. Not only did she lead the Great Northwest Athletic Conference again in total blocks (158) and blocks per set (1.53), she is on the brink of winning a second consecutive NCAA Division II block-per-set title.

Hair's 1.53 mark has her 07 ahead of both Jade Suguturaga of Augusta (Georgia) and Anna Coulter of East Stroudsberg (Pennsylvania).Suguturaga is still playing, as Augusta qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Coulter and East Stroudsberg's season is complete.

Hannah Hair final By the Numbers.Along with her 158 blocks (28 solo) this fall, Hair also hammered 217 kills with .337 hitting accuracy and piled up 311 points. Her final career totals in those statistical categories were 948 kills, .333 hitting, 629 total blocks (94 solo) and 1,311.5 points.

On Nov. 2, midway through the fifth set of a nail-biting thriller at Alaska Fairbanks, Hair recorded her 598th career block. That broke the GNAC record of 597 set by Western Washington's Kayleigh Harper from 2015-19.

A week later in another five-setter – this one at home against Western Washington – Hair got up for a career-high 14 blocks (four solo). She also had 10 kills in that match for her second double-double of the year and the fifth (and final) one of her career.

A mere five days after that on Nov. 14 at Saint Martin's, Hair picked up a block on just the fourth point of the match. That made it 1,000 career blocks between her and fellow fifth-year middle Allison Wilks.

Prior to the start of the 2024 schedule, Hair was named the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year. Although it was her first time of winning that particular award, she was a unanimous selection the Preseason All-GNAC team for four straight years.

In November, Hair was voted to the All-GNAC for the fourth consecutive year – and was unanimous all four times. Twice this fall, she was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week. She won that eight times during her career, plus two Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In 2023, Hair became the first player in GNAC history to be named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
