SPOKANE, Wash. – The Seattle Pacific University track & field teams competed in their indoor season-opener on Saturday at the Spokane Invitational, where newcomer Tawaf Aboudou set school records in the 60-meter dash and the long jump.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Tawaf Aboudou broke the SPU men's indoor track & field 60-meter dash record with a 6.86.
- Robert Joshua broke the previous record at last year's GNAC Championships.
- Aboudou wasn't finished, adding a school record in the long jump with a leap of 23-06.00.
- Alexa Gossett turned in a solid performance in the 5,000-meter run, taking first place with a time of 18:30.08.
- Hannah Chang picked up the new indoor season where she left off last season, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.76.
- Justin Brooks took home the 400-meter dash victory for the Falcons with a 48.38.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Aboudou joined Joshua as the only SPU men's sprinters to go sub seven seconds in the 60-meter dash.
- Aboudou 23-6 long jump beat a school record that had stood since 2009, beating out Justin Felt's jump of 23-2.75.
