PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, featuring Seattle Pacific's
Zoe Garcia as this week's Women's Golf Player of the Week.
"Zoe has worked really hard for a moment like this tournament," head coach
Tyler Copp said. "She's put together some really good rounds in practice, and she got the opportunity to show the West Region how good she really is."
Garcia was lights-out at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on February 24 and 24. She got off to a hot start, setting a new program record for single-round score with a 68 in round one. Garcia's round featured three birdies and an eagle on hole six, a 451-yard par-five. Her round featured one hole in which she did not shoot par or better. Garcia finished round one tied with two other players for first individually.
Consistency was key for Garcia throughout the tournament, as she went on to match her record-setting performance in round two with another 68. Her second round featured seven birdies, including six on the back nine. Garcia finished the two-round tournament eight under par and tied for first place individually among a field of 102 competitors.
Garcia was also one stroke off the GNAC single-round record of 67, set by Simon Fraser's Meera Minhas in 2024. Garcia became the sixth woman in GNAC history to shoot a single-round score of 68 or better and the second (along with Minhas) to achieve the feat on two occasions. Garcia lowered her season scoring average to 77.1 strokes per round, ranking her 10th in the conference so far in 2025-26.
"Her distance off the team, flurry of birdies, including four in a row in Round two, and ability to manage the tournament one shot at a time was high-level golf," Copp said. "She hit 30 greens in regulation, which gave her look after look for birdies and two-putt pars."
Garcia had a hand in another piece of history for the Falcons in round one. She teamed up with
Lauren Lee,
Natalie Eklund,
Anika Schau, and
Stella Johnson to shoot a 297 during round one. It was the lowest single-round team score in program history.
"We are all very proud and excited for Zoe's success," Copp added. "Better yet, she helped our team maintain a sixth-place finish on day two by backing up her 68 with another 68."
Garcia and the Falcons return to action on March 22-23 at the Southern Colorado Open in Pueblo, Colorado, at Walking Stick Golf Resort.
