    Lifetime Achievement

For the past half century, Jack MacDonald enthusiastically supported Seattle Pacific athletes and coaches with unbridled encouragement, tireless volunteer service and ongoing financial support.

He played basketball for the Falcons as a student, graduating in 1950. Then, for more than 50 years, Jack and wife Velma were members of the Falcon Booster Club, with Jack serving as its president for 20 years. In that role, he attended innumerable alumni, athletics and university task force meetings, representing the booster membership.

Jack cared deeply that Seattle Pacific was a God-honoring Christian college, faithful to its spiritual roots, a place where students could grow in Christ as well as excel in their chosen sports.

Jack knew SPU athletes personally. He reached out to all teams, caring as much for the freshman runner or novice rower as he cared for the senior All-American. If they were Falcons, he was proud of them and would let everybody know with his verbal trademark: “Go Birds!”

Regretfully, Jack passed away two months before the 2003 inaugural Falcon Legends luncheon, an event and concept he had championed for years. In honor of his unselfish and valued contributions to Falcon athletics, Jack MacDonald is now recognized as the first Lifetime Achievement Award winner in the Falcon Legends Hall of Fame.
