Others have come close. But when it comes to lighting up the soccer scoreboard, no one – whether at Seattle Pacific or within the entire Great Northwest Athletic Conference – has done it more often than Sarah Martinez.

During her honor-filled four year career from 2004-07, Martinez filled up the net with 49 goals of her own and assisted in 24 others, helping the Falcons put together a 79-8-6 record. It included a 42-3-3 mark in GNAC play that resulted in three conference championships, four straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, and a spot in the 2005 national championship game.

A chunk of the offense that Martinez generated came on the biggest stage, as she recorded three goals and five assists in NCAA playoff games.

Those who watched Martinez play certainly took notice. She was a four-time All-GNAC first-team selection, and was voted the conference’s Player of the Year as a sophomore and again as a senior, and was Seattle Pacific’s MVP those two years, as well.

As a senior in 2007, the honors kept coming. Martinez, who helped the Falcons reach the Final Four that season, was voted as the Daktronics Far West Region Player of the Year, and capped her career by earning All-America status from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
