She initially came to Seattle Pacific to run up and down the soccer field. But Jessica
Pixler soon decided that her running was best done on a cross country course or on a track.
By the time she finished her four years in an SPU singlet,
Pixler had run to 12 NCAA championships, giving her more national titles than any athlete in school history.
While most distance runners find more success either on the trails or on the oval,
Pixler was equally excellent at both. As a Falcon freshman, she played in seven soccer games. When there were no conflicts with soccer, she would run in cross country meets on Saturdays.
But
Pixler did more than just run – she won four of her five races that first year, including the
GNAC and NCAA West Region championships.
That set the tone.
Pixler stepped onto the sidelines of the soccer field went on to establish herself one of the best collegiate runners at any level. She won three straight NCAA cross country crowns and nine track titles: six indoor, three outdoors.
With numerous awards for her academic success,
Pixler became the quintessential definition of what it means to be a student-athlete, both on the national scene and especially at Seattle Pacific.
