Hall of Fame
During the better part of five decades, life’s road took John Glancy away from Seattle Pacific three times: to a bank, to a graphic design and communications firm, and to a high-tech manufacturing company.
But life could never take Seattle Pacific away from John Glancy.
So each time the forever-Falcon left, he ultimately returned.
From initially hanging around with dad and Hall of Famer Roy Glancy at track meets, to his first official days on campus as a student, basketball player, and sprinter in the fall of 1966, to his upcoming retirement in 2017, John has been all things SPU – and SPC before that.
In the spring of 1968, he ran the anchor leg on the 440-yard relay that still owns the school record. He was a sharpshooter on the basketball court, and deadly accurate at the free throw line.
John’s on-campus positions have ranged from admissions counselor to director of various departments. He also was named director of the school’s 125th anniversary celebration throughout the 2016-17 academic year.
“I’ve had other opportunities to go to other places. But I felt this was the place I was supposed to be,” he says.
Adds SPU president Dr. Daniel J. Martin, “John is a Falcon through and through.”
